Did original verts come with a glass window or plastic window?

Just like the title says. I am getting ready to replace my top, and the installer said that the original top on these cars came with a glass window, and mine is a plastic rear window. Just out of curiosity as to why/if the original owner changed the top or window.

Original is glass as far as I know. Plastic replacement windows are cheaper to purcahse and bend a little so they don't shatter if you put the top down wrong. That being said, I have a glass window and I haven't experienced any issues yet.

They all came with a glass window but the origional owner probably had the top replaced once and went the cheap route. I had mine replaced in 97 and it cost me just over $1000. From the factory my price 25% discount was like $800 for the main part and $1200 for the window section and I'd have to install it. I imagine the origional owner didn't want to pony up the cash, no pun intended.

Originally they call came with the glass window.

Damn tops are expensive it cost me $800 for a top, install and a new glass window. Cheaper than some have paid but still that took a chunk out of my budget.

Every order sheet i've ever seen has listed the plastic window as standard and a glass window as an upgrade option.

The glass was included in a commonly ordered package, so virtually all verts came with glass.
