2day i got pulled over for DAM...Driving A Mustang. I was on my way to work and a cop waiting there in a turn around, and the light im about to pass through turns yellow as im going though it. He pulls me over for "going through a red light" and gives me a ticket. Do u ever feel like if u were driving a 96 Dodge Caravan he would have just went on his way. Is it just me or do cops love busting mustangs.

Yep, thats the case alot.

I got pulled twice before. Once I was acutally speeding but was pacing an SUV which was actually starting to pull ahead of me. Of course I get pulled. I ended up getting a tint violation (warning) on that one.

Next time I got pulled because my tag lights were out... $230 for that and $230 for tint violation... again... lol...

I bought it outright after I turned 18 and im nearing 20 now, get alot of those "must have stolen it" looks... guess a young person cant have a nice car without it being mommy and daddys money.

They can get mad all they want. I chose to work as soon as I legally could and save all my money. Sometimes things happen and thats not an option, in that case then no big deal but I dont like when people chose not to do that and then get upset when they see someone who did.

you ran a red light or you didn't? You're making it sound as if you didn't do anything wrong?

Sounds childish to me if you ran a red light and are complaining you only got pulled over because of your car.

If you didn't run a red light then I can see the complaint, but you know accelerating into a yellow is a ticketable offense that most officers just don't use against the average motorist, but will if they are suspicious of the vehicle.

i saw the cop b4 i even got to the light whcih was yellow when i went though, and I didn't accelerate. If i saw the cop first theres no way i was gonna run a light. Its 15 degrees out 2day and theres no way i coulda stopped. btw this is in an 87 mustang with over 120k.

well this is kind of weird. I was going to make a post about something similar.

Christmas evening. I'm driving about 55 kmph in a 50 kmph zone. I see headlights in my rearview mirror coming up FAST!!! I keep driving like normal and this jackass behind me gets like maybe 2 feet off my rear bumper then slows down and I stop at a red with him behind me. Then he pulls up beside me and opens his window. The OFFICER told me I was going 95 in a 50 zone, and told me I'd better slow down. then drove off.

Really odd... now if I was actually going that fast I WOULD have gotten a ticket, not only that.. I didn't put my window down right away, and I have tint on the fronts (which is illegal here) so I could have gotten busted for that too... but only a small yelling lecture.

Odd.....

Very odd....

makes you wonder...

still odd.....

in my area the cops have a mustang show at the police station, so they are pretty cool around here.. we have a few black GT new edge police cars too.. but when i was dating a girl in a small town (bored cops) i got pulled over for everything, i stopped going to her house because of it.. nobody can tell me that cops treat mustangs, ricers and all other loud modded cars the same as a regular passanger car. obviously we stand out, at 3,000RPM it sounds like we are racing off of a stop light(those of us with exhausts)

Yeah, I got pulled over a few months ago. I put my seatbelt on 15 miles down the road, in my work parking lot before I even got out of the lot. Then down here in my town, the ******* cop here pulls me over because he said I wasn't wearing my seatbelt. Funny thing is, my window was down, I was wearing a light grey shirt, and my seatbelt is the dark charcoal (damn near black) and somehow he doesn't see it.

The cop here I think is some prick that is jealous because he didn't have that nice a car at my age. (it's NOT mommy and daddy's money either, I work for EVERYTHING I own)

nothing worse than a motorcycle piglet

I got 4 tickets from this *******, short fat little motorcycle pig a couple months ago:
1) going 9 over the limit (54 in a 45) (ok so i was going 9 over i guess i deserved it)
2) No proof of insurance (yes he could have towed me and i agree i deserved this one)

3) My drivers license has my old address on it and he gave me a ticket for that (I went to college in Galveston and havent updated it yet since i still live there...but who cares???)
4) No front license plate...bull**** law in the first place...

Best thing to do is fight the tickets if your innocent. Tell the Judge in a respectful way the truth. "I was wearing my seatbelt" or "the light was yellow when you entered the intersection and you didn't feel it safe to jam on the brakes with a car with no ABS".

I was pulled over for 'talking on a cell phone' when I didn't have a cell phone in the car. No ticket after I offered the police to feel free to search the car for it. Just happened to not have it with me. If I had, I would have brought a copy of the bill showing I wasn't talking at the time. Eventually the judges have to get tired of these type of cops.

For my tint ticket I peeled my beutiful 5% tint off on the way to the court house, leaving a nice mess of adhesive on the windows only to have them NOT inspect my car... DOH!

agreed 100%

he pulled you over because you drive a nice car, and he doesnt, or did not at your age. if you were an old man, he would not have looked twice. if you were a 12 year old driving a minivan, again, no second look. young male in a mustang? oh yes, easy target.

my two only speeding tickets were both bull****. twice now i have been going just shy over the limit, in the middle lane, with cars on the fast lane just flying by, but yet the cop did not see them, he only saw my car. the first cop i called him out, was like "so while im doing 78 and had just merged into the middle lane to let the white F150, the tan Corolla and the black buick go by, you missed all three of those cars which were next to me going at a faster rate of speed, when at the same moment we both made eye contact and you singled me out?" his words were "umm, yeah, i didnt see any other cars, but you were still speeding, so here". real nice. good thing our taxes HAVE to go to the police or i would choose my money to go elsewhere, like fire or health, people that actually make a difference.

Never make eye to eye contact with a cop, that pisses them off for some reason.
I dought that the type of car you drive has anything to do with it. On any given
day a cop see's every car known to man, they just need to write some tickets,
its thier job.

I've been told on a few tickets I've gotten that my loud pipes are what initally got the cop's attention. I guess you could call that a DAM ticket but looking back I deserved all of them, no matter what I thought at the time. You just need to realise a loud obnoxious car raises your profile over the cookie-cutter, blend-in sedans and minivans and drive accordingly.
Get pulled over? Just yes sir/no sir the guy to death and don't do anything that could even be mistaken for attitude and I bet you more often than not they'll bump your ticket down or even give you a warning (hand to God, it really does happen). Sure, you'll get the chip on his shoulder cop sometimes, at which point you are ****ed so don't make it worse on yourself by being wise.
Just go to court, plead no contest, and accept the fact that to drive the way you want to drive, it's going to cost a couple bucks every year.

Speeding tickets are a joke. But that's another issue ...

I've definitely got some "DAM" tickets. The worst was "Illegal Display of Plates".

Had a SALEEN license plate frame (that Steve Saleen gave me) and got pulled for it and given a ticket. This was ironic to me because I worked at a dealership and we put license plate frames on all cars.

Well, I've only had my Mustang for about a month and a half, so obviously I haven't gotten any tickets yet. But I used to get pulled over in my Dak all the time (loud pipes, small lift, big tires, bright red paint).

Oh, however, I do have a DAM story. I pulled into the Target parking garage with my girlfreind, parked the car, locked it, and began heading to the store entrance. A cruiser with two cops in it pulls in front of my GF and I while we're walking to the store and cuts us off. One of them goes, "Hey son, let me ask you a few questions. We got a report of a black Mustang racing a Jeep in this area, and your car fits the description pretty well." I wasn't a smart-ass or anything, just said that it was not me and must have been another black Mustang (which isn't a rare occurrence). So anyways, he goes, "We don't have any proof if it was you or not, but I see you've got some pretty dark tints... Just take it easy when you're in town." I gave him a "yes sir" and he sped out of the garage.

Later that night, as I'm heading home, I was sitting at a red light. As I'm waiting for it to turn green, what flies across the intersection going WELL OVER the speed limit? A black Mustang GT. My girl and I couldn't help but laugh.

I have never got a ticket in my life, unless you count parking tickets for parking in my drive way and my back bumper covering up the sidewalk. Lets see, i got pulled over the very same night i got my license in my 89 2.3 5spd, passing a friend, 75 in a 55, got a warning. Passing a guy in my 94gt 5spd and a cop popped up over the hill and pulled over on the side of the road because i was coming in his lane, soon as he caught up in town with me he couldnt ticket me because i wasnt in city limits when i made a bad pass, and no state trooper was around. Also pulled over a handfull of times for, blowing a fuse to my tails lights, i got pulled over twice in 10 minutes that night because of that, also driving through dealerships(ford) checking out mustangs, they would pull me over to see what i was doing, maybe they thought i was vandalizing, sorry about the long write up. Oh yeah, i was racing my friends crotchrocket on a back road, i was about a 100mph when we see a car coming, we slow down a bit, he pulls in front, we see its a cop, and we just gun it. About fifteen minutes later i go back into town, after some talking with friends we found out that it was his ex wife.
