SO, I was looking at the Welcome Wagon and seen a funny Introduction and then thought that I have never seen a thread where people explained why they named their Mustang

Louise is my 1996 Vert. She is named after my X. She will always have a place in my heart because she has given me my son. Both of these ladies share the same traits.
* Both are beautiful in my mind
* Both are temperamental
* Both have tried to kill me twice (Literally)
* Both have gone under changes
* Both have cost me a LOT of money
* Neither like me to "Ride" them without drama involved.
* I don't wish a day comes where either are not a part of my life in some way.

The 'exxon valdez' obviously for the oil leak at the back of the manifold, I will have to think of a new name when the leak is fixed, there is the 'stunt double' which is the same color as the ev. Then the famous 'dump truck', it is actually a tow truck, noobz gave it the nickname, you'll have to ask him why.
I have never named a vehicle after women although I see the correlation between tits and tires. If it has either one it will give you trouble.

I get very attached to my vehicles usually. So they all get a name-Though the names are not always very imaginative . Lol
I've named every car I've owned except the 4Runner. Some of them have had multiple names (for example, my 2014 F150 was initially "Wendy" and later "The Pig").
The Mustang II is "ElSuperPinto". At one time I was going to build it like one of the named drag cars from the 60s or 70s, complete with it's name down the side. I came up with the "ElSuperPinto" name from the dumbest of inspirations. In 3rd grade Spanish, we watched a dubbed episode of Mighty Mouse, and when Mighty Mouse appeared, instead of the narrator exclaiming "MIGHTY MOUSE!" The Spanish voiceover yelled, "El Super Raton!" so quickly that it sounded like one long word. Well, after having had three Mustang IIs over the past 20 years, and hearing all the haters calling them "just a Pinto"... I embraced it. It's not just a Pinto, it's "ElSuperPinto!"

That way, when there's a problem with it, you can say, "Surely you must be joking."Shirley , after my wives dead mother. Plus , I kind of like the name.
And the car will reply, "No, I'm serious. And don't call me Shirley."

I guess I never really officially named the Mustang, but I'll call it "Sonic" every now and then because of the color, Sonic Blue. My girlfriend calls it "Blurple."
My girlfriend has given my Expedition a nickname after she was driving it for a couple weeks while her car was out of commission...it has now been dubbed "The Beast" since it is a bit of a beast to drive.
My first car, a '77 Mustang II Ghia, was called "II Good" (which is where my username comes from) and it had personalized license plates with that on them.
The '99 V6 Mustang I had didn't really get a name. Maybe Rio every once in a while, again due to it's color, Rio Red.

I'd never let a girl name my car.
Every one would have been called 'oohh sht'!
Or maybe that was my driving?

I've never officially named any of my cars, just used descriptors most of the time. Like "the Cobra" (my Cobra II), "the vert" (my 89 GT convertible), "the wagon" (my 55 Chevy wagon), "the truck" etc etc. Never quite grasped the naming of vehicles. To those that have/do, do you smash a bottle of champagne or something on the quarter to christen them?
My one exception - which wasn't even me that named it, it was the ex - was the 84 vert I had. She named it "the little sister" if that counts. It went so far as the vanity plates carried the name. Her reasoning was that my Cobra was older and had more power so the vert was it's little sister.

I smashed her Name sake in it, Does that count?

That'll work!! lol
I named my '94 cobra "Lilith" drawing some inspiration from Jewish mythology, long story short she was Adam's first wife and left the garden of Eden after a fight because she would not be subservient to him... Since it's my first car that isn't a Volvo and the first car I'm really trying to work on myself, the intimidation factor made me pick it. Also, I hope to get the car painted purple after fixing it up a bit, and Lilith seemed to fit.
My '06 Volvo usually gets called "the tank" - every member of my family has had used it for extended periods of time and we beat the sh*t out of cars, with 190k on the odometer it shows no signs of letting up. Also harkens back to my first car, an '88 Volvo we called the tank because it was essentially just a giant box on wheels

The new ones may not look like it, but they pretty much are too, just far more luxurious. The early Volvo's were built like tanks!

My wife's current is Rhett (Butler).
Our '85 GT was named Domino.

Our Charger R/T was Athena.
Many others . . .

Does 'F-N piece of chit' count?
I've called it that more than once.
