Did your X pipe get rid of drone?

I'm getting a mustang tuning catted X put on soon, and I'm either going to put the stock mufflers back on or leave on my MAC catback.

The determining factor will be the noise. As of now, my car has a terrible buzz coming from the exhaust when it hits drone. My exhaust guys told me that I should really try the X pipe with the MAC first, because an X pipe can put the sound more out the back instead of droning inside the car like the stock midpipe.

I was under the impression X pipes make the car louder. Does it quiet the inside while making the outside louder, or will it drone me to death on the inside even worse now?

I had a o/r Dr Gas that droned so badly I had to take it out.

I now have a catted x in there and it is much better. There is still a drone, but it's not that bad. Probably not doing any 12 hour drives to the beach in it though...

Although they've got a mean sound and idle and WOT, the Mac's will drone, no matter what. They're as bad as the 2-chamber Flows in that respect. The X-pipe will reduce the amount of drone, but not a lot.

You're either going to have to live with it, or swap out your mufflers for something a little quieter.

Stock mufflers will work, but then you're back to the same old 2 1/4 inch low flow noise suppressors. The stock ones aren't made by Borla, they're just Ford bean counter specials. The reason they do such a good job of suppressing noise, is that if you look at them closely, they're each a different length. Each one resonates at a different tone and frequency from the other, which cancels out a lot of the drone that becomes apparent after swapping them out for aftermarket mufflers.

On that note, from what I understand....Borla and Magnaflow make the quietest mufflers, but the Bassani baffles may not be a bad idea, if they're as cost effective.

My thoughts exactly. Why bother getting an aftermarket exhaust if they are going to complain? They should just stay stock.

Guy concerned with drone: You don't always have drone, only at certain RPM's. Just don't cruz at that RPM.

It's VERY valid when it's your only car and you want to be able to drive it on the Interstate without you ears bleading you fu**ing dry.

nobody said it wasnt a valid reason asshat. My car is my daily driver and i dont consider it loud or obnoxious at all. sorry some people have an opinion other than your own

on my 02gt, i bought it with 2 cats removed, stock mid-pipe, and 40 series flows. the drone was very minimal. then i added a o/r MustangTuning x pipe, and the drone isnt bad enough to were the music cant cover it. it drones, but not to the point of making my ears bleed. i get compliments all day long on how my exhaust sounds, and i love to go in underpasses and rev

You did not say it was not vaild but you sure as heck tried to make it look like stupid question. Go back and look at your original comment if you need to.

I am very happy that you do not find the drone, if any, in your car anoying. MANY mustang divers experience it every day to a varying degree, if yours does not bother you, then more power to you asshat.

My Mustang, as being MUCH MORE POWERFUL than yours, may be a bit louder, so once again I say, STFU.

Also, "future mods" wtf is that???? My future mods are a build block and 600 RWHP.... SO fricking what??? Post what you got, not what you WANT!!! and you call me the asshat...

When I had my Dr. Gas it droned like crazy!
Threw back on the Stocker H, and drone was minimized.
I dynamated my trunk and it made a big difference!
