Died a little inside tonight

I saw the most beat to death 03 termi, ever tonight, it makes me sick just thinking about what the car had. At one point in its life a rightful owner took care of it, because it had a steeda light bar (convertible), smaller pulleys and bbk lt headers prob alot more to. The fact is it only had 57k on the clock yet it was so beat up it knocked so bad that it sounded like a passenger side valve was just inside the cylinder, moving with the piston... Anyways just venting because me and my friends were hurt to see that a car like that can be treated so poorly. Figure id share see what the input would be.

I feel your pain. just over a month ago I had to see my brothers '04 termi go off on a flatbed after his ass end came out from behind him on a wet on ramp and nose dived into a wall. His was one of four limited editions.

Man that must really suck, im only 19 and bought my car with the money i had and i make it work, its not the nicest but i make it happen and still afford mods thats what makes me appreciate it. But a termi is my dream car, and this was a 10th anniversary 03 cobra just beat to death the rotor rusted off and was dripping rust on the rim, and one of the calipers was completely off!!!

i just hate seeing a car like that treated like that because of how much i respect them.

i know what you mean, or like those people who are driving 2010 mercedes cars which are 70-100 grand and have completely black front wheels from brake dust, i mean that must take months of not washing!!!!

yeah i was there to, poor thing was BEAT! it was in terrible condition, the exhaust was completely rotted off after the lt's, and the brake caliper was broken off and wedged between the rim and caliper bracket there know was terrible knocking comming from the valve cover, no coolant and burnt oil........

poor thing is just going to end up in the auction, (it was a repo)

And as far as the mileage my brothers only had 46k. Just sucks when that stuff happens. Even worse is this weekend is NMRA peach state nationals. Woulda been great to have it up there.

You Floridians need to keep your cars out of the salt water. They make shallow sport boats for that kind of stuff!

But, that just sucks. The 03-04 cobra is one of the cars that really is important to muscle car/sports car people. The LS1 set the standard in 98 for muscle cars, then Ford took it back in 03-04. Since then, they have kept it with the GT500's. This car really turned the HP war in favor of Ford, which they had been they had been losing for so long.

You just don't see as many of these cars anymore. I hope the owners keep them in good shape. If not, sale them to somebody that will.

a garage kept termi with 2k miles is more of a travesty in my mind, 400hp cars are meant to be rompped on a daily basis!

Romping on, and letting your car go to crap are 2 different things. I'm on my 3rd rear end in 4 months, and I beat the crap out of my car on the street and the track. But, I do fix issues that need to be looked at, and I would never let my car get to this situation.

One the one hand yes it sucks but every time I hear about a 10th getting destroyed mine gets a little rarer... And I take excellent condition of mine, at the end of the day we can only control how our own cars are treated.

I don't think I've ever felt upset about anything anyone's every done with THEIR car. Like KT said, the more that get fcked up, the more yours stands out.

I'm not going to shed a tear over something some did/didn't do with their car anwyay.

I'm up to 18 miles on my car this year though. Granted, I just got it out of storage last night....

Hey!! First off, your car IS nice. I know plenty of people who would LOVE to have your car.
I think the moral of this story is (although people have already said it) we should cherish our vehicles (even if we don't think they are the nicest in the world) the care and attention we give them will (hopefully) only reward us by them being reliable. I too have seen many nice cars beaten to s**t and I cringe at the thought. I assume that anyone who spends any time at all on this site has to care about their car a little. I give no respect to those who purposely abuse their cars

i personally have seen 2 single t76 cobra's go mid 12's, i mean they will do that stock!!

they were blaming their tunes and crap.

Get used to seeing such a thing. As the years go on you will experience the same thing you did with this terminator. My dream cars are the old cars, the ones that are regularly found rotting away. And now, when you find one that is rotting away as this terminator has, it is considered a "rare find" because it at least is a complete car with all the important parts. It is a shame that this is the fate for the majority of our beloved cars. Let's face it, at least half of the cars currently owned by the folks who have already responded will one day end up in a salvage yard, a barn covered and cluttered with stuck valves and bad gas, or in a field with a tree growing though the floor board almost always without the correct trans, heads, intake, whatever set that engine apart. I was lucky to inherit the Boss 302 that I am currently working on, but when I first got it home I instantly realized that the cherished Holley Model 4150 780cfm carb was missing! I searched for WEEKS for the original carb knowing that without that carb, my dream car was only half of what it should be. I damn neared cried when I finally found the original 4150!

So get used to seeing our treasures destroyed, hell I read a while back that some jerk-o turned in his Grand National during the Cash for Clunkers bit, the car got crushed. But take note that as we see the terminators, the GT500s, Grand Nationals, Bosses and whatever, rot away, it makes finding that pristine barn find that much more glorious and all the more faith restoring in why we love this hobby so much.

Wow, that turned into a lot more than I meant for it to, but these barn finds are what keep me going sometimes, hahah.

Makes me sad.

that sucks. And didnt some of the 4v's have a knocking problem, particularely coming out of the passenger side head? I know dustin (EPIK) mentioned a knocking problem, and his car has I think 55k miles.

oh ok!! since i dont own one i must not know anything about them, and they must be SO much more special!!

the shop in indy that i hang at sometimes has quite a few of termi drivers, one guy was driving like a dumbass, and blew out the hydroboost completely, another guy they put in a spec 3+ and he blew it out in 20 miles!! another guy just put down over 1000rwhp, and runs 12.20's at 115.. becasue he's scared of the power.. one guys car was completely torn down, and he wanted them to put it back together just to take his buddy for a ride, when it wasnt even close yet to being done.
