Ok heres the deal. So I was driving my car down the road a few days ago and it randomly shut down, after a few minutes of cranking and trying to figure out what the deal was it started and made it home. Next day it dies and wont start, same deal ran for maybe 5-10 minutes and just simply shut down, checked my distributor and the bearings were out of it and it had taken a good deal of material away from the pickup and the inside was full of dust and crap from that. replaced distributor, car ran again for 5-10 minutes and died and will not start period, ive replaced the ignition module and coil as well as a new cap and rotor. I tried spraying starting fluid in the intake to see if it would catch just in case of a fuel related issue and it doesnt even try to catch. Any suggestions?

Nothing is for certain but it sounds like a classic PIP (stator) failure. This has been beaten to death lately as a search will show.

Get it to crap out and check spark, injector pulsing and fuel pressure. If you have both the former two when the car won't start, the PIP is probably ok and the issue lies elsewhere.

If you haven't pull codes as well.

Good luck.

JT, he said he used some starting fluid and it still wouldn't start. This tells us that he's not getting any spark. And he's replaced pretty much all the parts relating to the ignition system.

I wonder if he bought a remanufactured distributor? Or worse, a MSD dizzy!
