well i am finally about to order a set of 18" chrome saleens off of mustangtuning next week and i noticed that the 18x9's are a lot cheaper than the 18x10's. id save a good 100 bucks going w/ 18x9's all the way around so i was wondering if there would be any differences between 18x9s on the back compared to 18x10s on the back? would the 18x10's be worth it for the rears?!

You could run wider tires and it would look a little better, but the cost of tires for 295s is friggin rediculous. Your call man. Im getting 10" Bullitts in the rear bc I like the DD look. The Saleens will look the same in 9" or 10", so Id just get the 9" all the way around.

The 18X10's also stick out a bit more in the back than a 18X9 would....the different offset helps the apperance IMO....but you could always get some spacers for the wheel to accomplish the same thing w/ the 18X9's....but you're tire size is still a factor

I think 295s would be too much for a 9" rim. 275 would be the biggest I would go. IMO I would get the 18x10 for the back, that way you fill it out more and you will be able to fit 295s on there.

I have a set of 285/35's on the rear of my 18x9" FR500's and next time I might even try a 295.

Hell, some people put 315's on a 17x8" rim!

The difference is (1) weight, (2) more expensive tires, and (3) more understeer.

bigger rims mean you can run wider tires.

some 295's on 10" rims will be very nice for launches. even better if you can afford DR's.

I have hypercoated saleen replicas 9/10" with 275F/285R. You can probably fit a 285 or 295 on the 9" rim with no problem. The 285s are actually not wide enough for my 10" on the back but I got them used so I didn't care. All I have to say is these rims are heavy as hell! I had 01 cobra polished aluminum 17x8" wheels on my car before and I bet the 18x10" with the tire was a good 10-15 pounds heavier than the stock rim. Crazy. All I know is the next set of rims I get are going to be very lightweight.

295 can fit on 18x9 but its pretty bulgy. I would recommend 285 on a 18x10 wheel, and 265 on an 18x9.
