Hey guys,
I need to replace the A-arm bushings on a '86 GT and was wondering if there was any difference between a OEM Ford bushing and say a Prothane set? Do they differ from stock Ford ones? I'd personally just put Ford OEM replacements in but i can't find any!? Does anybody know if they still make them?! Thanks!!

Here is a link to the ones i'm looking at.

Yes, there is a big difference

Ford bushings are soft rubber. The Ford racing A-Arms that are now $300+ have a stiffer rubber bushing in them for improved handling.

The bushings in your link are polyurethane which is much stiffer than rubber. So there will be less movement. Downside is the stiffer bushings transmit more NVH to the vehicle.

So you need to decide if you can live with slightly more noise and harshness or if that is important to you to keep.

Prothane uses urathane for their bushings....as mentioned, better for performance, not so much for noise and smoothness. They do last longer though.

Meh ... if you want a smooth, quiet ride, buy a Lincoln.
