Different Cam More HP?

Yea i think im going to go with a comp cams 284hr cam for my set up.

So the Ford 5.0 Blower 284hr cam from comp cams is the cam i think im going with. My question is does it work well with a 5 speed and is it going to make good numbers with my setup? Heres the specs on the cam.

a bigger cam that stock will definatly make more HP, but at higher RPMs.

the question is not how much HP it will add. but is the motor setup to effectivly rev to those RPM where the cam starts working and making power.... and in the topic makers case i think his car can and then some
but i would say the B cam should add around 15-20 HP or soi think the B cam is a good street cam. Sounds good, not too radical top where the car cant idle and from what i see it works. as people still use the cam to this day even though how "old" it is....

but also as stated above, there are some better choices, i hear the TFS stage 2 is pretty mean, i think the motor is good for a a tfs2 cam

I hate to jump on a memeber, but this is just plain old babble...you state not too radicall top were car can't idle..sorry that's not how it works. MANY people have idle issues with B cams...and just a letter cam with stock components will not necessarily net you 15hp..it could even cost you some. Nice try but your thoughts are incorrect on this topic. Stage 2 cam may leave you with PVC issues, there are some good blower cams out there, ask around and you'll find some great advice. I would seriously look at a custom cam..WELL worth the money for you if you're willing to spend it.

im running the B303 but N/A, Sounds mean, idle's fairly rough for a hydrolic roller, But no idle issues and im running a mild automatic, But i 2Nd the idea for a custom grind if your looking for power, Give Comp cams a call and let them set you up one for what you have done to your car-

Getting a custom cam isn't that big of a deal. Just tell them the parts you have and what you want. Brian at HiTech Motorsport charges $295 for a custom and has them done at compcams. He mainly uses the xe line lobes which are very aggressive and yield a lot of power along with driveability. I don't really like any of the cams most companies have. They're too exhaust biased which makes for soggy low end and soft mid range and let you know when they KICK in up top. I'm thinkin in your application using comps xe lobe #3632 which is 224 at .050 and .555 lift. Run it on a single pattern 224/224 114 LSA and 114 ICL. This lobe has some TEETH as the .200 duration is 148. This is the amount of time your valve is over .200" lift or basically the meat of where your heads will flow the most. Your B cam is probably around 128-130 ish at .200 duration. Also this lobes seat timing is 274 vs. the 284 or 286 the B cam has. This means the XE lobe moves a ton more air in less time than the B cam lobe and will make more cylinder pressure. I ran this lobe on my NA 306 and you can see the results of power in the sig.

So this cam is gonna make good power then with my setup essentialy is what your saying? Also does comp make that cam or hitech motorsports? Would i have to have that one custom made?

Just wondering why you are doubting that cam now?

That Wolverine cam will work just fine with your set-up it is a EXCELLENT blower cam, hence why I suggested it for your combo. It is mild enough to have great street manners, but have a nice soft HP and TQ curve that will carriy through the operating range of YOUR COMBO with out making any radical changes, it will also pass emissions in most states.

A custom cam builder steered be towards that cam when I had a customer who didn't want to spend the money on a custom cam and upgraded springs, he also hates the XE lobes. It is the smallest cam I have ever put in one of my blower combo's but I was very impressed with the power and overall feel of the motor. With the GT-40 intake on the car it will be dead at 5700rpm even with the blower it will not make power past there, the cam will carry into the range and you can shift under the limiter.

First passes out the car went 118mph, with 4psi of boost and it was not even tuned yet. GT-40intake, AFR185's stock springs, 65mm TB, 80mm Pro-M, 1.625" headers, 9.5:1 compression, Vortech blower, 42# inj, no FMU.

So far I have not been impressed with the TFS 2 in any blower combo.

There is not reason with some more boost your car won't make 400RWHP+

Yes, this cam would make more power than what you have now. You can have that cam made by comp cams or just call Brian at HiTech and he could do one for you. He just picks up the phone and calls comp cams and says I need this and then mail it to you.
