Differential lube... what weight?

I think I remember the manual calling for 75w140 synthetic.

But, I remember seeing alot of people reccomending 75w90 synthetic.

I know alot of companys selling gear packages are using 75w90 lube.

So which is the one to use? Friction mod with either of course, unless its allready mixed in.

75w90 is alot less expensive than 75w140, so if its pointless in using the 140 I rather use the 90.

you can use either. on teh diff it say 140 so i use 140.

my local pep boys has royal purple 75-140 w/ the friction modifier alreayd in it for $10 a quart

Use 75w140. Pay the extra few bucks and save potential headaches in the future.

75w140 is the proper lube that is called for for our 8.8's. Make sure you add the appropriate amount of friction modifier or choose a gear lube that already has it in it.

This is one of those questions where it would be REALLY helpful if you had your location in your signature. You don't have to post your address and social security number, but at least your state. That way I would know your climate.

If you live in a cold climate, use 75W90, in a hot climate, 75W140 might be better.

South Carolina, so the winters arent too brutal by any means and it gets hot as hell during the summer.

Then 75W140 would give better gear protection for your climate.

Here is a tough one.. What would you recomend for us poor canucks where the tempurature can go from 110*F to - 55* F?

I'm in SC also and I use 75w140.
