Differential question

Honstly don't know much about the Ford diffs, but unless you looking at BIG power (500bhp and slicks) I wouldn't have thought it would be an issue.

Besides, if you leave it stock and it doesn't break it won't have cost anything.

If it does break then change it for another one, the cost of doing this is harldy likely to be much more than changing it all at once.

I have never really investigated this swap on a car only 4x4's and when we replace a LSD on a 4x4 we put lockers in. Anyway, changing gears I can understand, you probably want better acceleration, however, the ford built 8.8 is pretty tuff even with stock internals. If you really want to replace your LSD you could go with an Eaton with either 31 or 28 splines but both are going to run about $500. I just don't see why you would want/need one if the one you have is working just fine. I would not change it unless you break it or it becomes a weak point for powerloss. otherwise, if it aint broke, dont fix it. Unless money is no option then do what you like and send pictures. Bottom line, there is probably better things you could invest your LSD money into that would have a bigger impact on drivability and performance.

There is nothing wrong with Ford's Traction Lok, but in my experience they don't stay tight (able to drive both rear tires under all conditions) for more than a few years. A more complete lock-up can be had by switching to an Auburn LSD, but they don't last any longer than the Traction Lok. My solution has been to rebuild my Traction Lok every few years. New friction disks only cost about $70.00, and it takes a couple hours to put them in at the most.
