can someone tell me if there is a trick to removing the gears in my 8.8 rear end?? I took the means off and figured it would just come out. Apparently I am wrong cause its in there really tough. any help would be great.
try hitting the diff., if that dont work try hitting the pinion, just try to free it up, it may be stuck and just a little tap will sometimes do the trick. Use something softer in-between the hammer and differential, though, like brass or wood
ok this thing will not budge at all. I must be missing something. Does anyone know of a photo writeup for the process to make sure im doing the right thing. This is an 8.8 out of a ford explorer if it makes any difference. I dont believe it does but just letting you guys know.
Ok do you have a big clamp on your work bench?? If so get to pieces of little wood and brace it with that. Then get a brass hammer and beat the ***** out of it. When you are going to put the new gears on put it in the over for 30 min at 250 degrees It should go on. Any other problems? I made about every mistake so I know alot lol.
