How hard is it to install the shaker system, and is it any better than a typical cold air intake? I see that it costs about twice as much and I was planning on ordering the gt appearance package with the hood scoop. Seeing as how the hood scoop in that package is useless, I thought maybe I would go with one of these since I sort of like it better anyways and it is actually used for something.

it is not hard to install, just tricky to cut the hood. there have been some good threads on the CDC shaker.

I read the instructions for it, and I am just not sure I can cut what will be the one and only hood I will have. ONE MISTAKE...................

Oh and what are the performance gains compared to a normal CAI?

No performance gains...... do a search if you like, there is plenty of info on installing, etc.

I highly recommend the hood be cut by a professional body shop, I did it with my new 05 GT two years ago, there are many posts on this. The actual installation of the shaker system is pretty easy. CDC's website has the instructions and no special tools are required. You'll really like this modification.
