Just wondering how difficult it is to replace a throw out bearing for the first time at your own home. What kind of tools are needed? Any tips/tricks? Anything else? Please let me know. Thanks guys!

Its not that hard to do. The only kind of tool that you'll really need that you might not have is a Trans Jack. You can do it with out but its a pain in the @ss. How many miles are on the clutch? If I was you I would replace that to if it had some miles on it.

Not sure, but I don't want to start something I can't finish...the only thing I've ever done on a car was the x pipe, and that was my own. Nothing else. I don't even know what a TOB looks like!

Yeah, the milage is correct. And those transmission problems and griding sound is probably just a throwout bearing. You can easily replace that yourself in your garage.

Sure a personal check will be just fine son...

al you need too do is pull the trans partially out.. the only hard part is the starter bolts.. the top one can be a bitch...

ohh one thing... make sure you have the trans in neutural and you take the shifter off... not just the handle...

13mm swivel socket and a real long extension will get all the bellhousing bolts. What's the best way to get at those freakin starter bolts. I got mine out but there has to be an easier way. Hell that's the hardest part of taking the trans out!!

I got the starter bolts by accessing them from the front of the engine between the engine mount but a helper had to line up the socket on the bolts.

I would try to have access to swivels and air tools if I were you. even if you have to borrow.

nothing hard about it really but the right tools will make the jog alot easier. if you dont have much help you may consider renting a tranny jack as most poeople don't have one. I don't.

I would also consider the milage on your clutch as you will be doing 90% of the labor to change that as well.
