So, I bought a used 97 gt a couple months ago, and decided to have an oil change. Prior to the oil change, I checked the dipstick and the car was low on oil according to the dipstick. I figured maybe the car was low on oil or had been burning some oil. Neways, I added 5 qts after I drained the old oil and still no reading on the dipstick. Added 1/2 more and still nada. So I went ahead and jacked up the car, and looked at the oil pan. I found the dipstick was tapped in the oil pan and everything looked the way it should. Next, I went to the local ford dealer and had them run the part number on my dipstick, and it is the correct one.

Anybody have any other ideas what could cause this? Thanks

Mark

yeah, see the trick is putting in the required amount of oil:p

J/k, it does take 6 qrts tho, man. And i end up needing to put about a 1/4-1/2 qrt in after it cycled through for the perfect level. Check you oil pressure gauge in car, make sure it's not too low

its not low at all, then again, its just a guage and not accurate. The thing is, the book says 5, but I maybe wrong.
