Disappointing Dyno Numbers 93 Cobra

The Dyno Numbers
Base Pull => HP: 219 and 252 TRQ @ 4k rpm
Final Pull => HP: 243 and 287 TRQ @ 4k rpm

Just got back from tuning today and all I managed to get out of it was 243 hp and 287 torque at 4k rpm. This just seems way to low as I was expecting between 280 and 300 hp....especially with the ARF heads. The car runs and sounds fine. Any suggestions? Trying to get 300 hp without a blower........

I have almost the the same combination as shown on Ford Muscle http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2003/06/afrinstall/ 93 Cobra

I also have AFR165's, when I dyno'd mine and got only 260hp/300tq. I didn't have them tune it though. I was expecting around 300 too.

Your torque was a low too. What did you have your timing set on? You should have set the timing on about 16 or 17 and made a pull w/o the chip.

Your best bet would be to have someone properly dyno-tune the car.

i would have thought that it would be in the high 260s or low 270s.

stock cobra cam?
stock computer? i hear that the cobra computer is not the best also.

get more mods custom cam, t/b, mass air, port the intake, gears dont give hp sure you know that. Injectors good tune up and a good dyno tune this stuff aint cheap but it will help.

cant have all flow and no GO!

You're not far off at 4,000 rpms compared to that dyno chart you posted (only 20rwhp). Something is holding your combo back over 4,000rpms which is where you need to start looking (Mass air meter? Fuel?)...
