I'm about to do a compression test and the instructions say to disconnect the coil so as I don't burn anything out. Which part is the coil? I disconnected the center wire coming into the distributor cap from the large resistor and the pair of wires coming from the MSD box to the distributor. Should I disconnect the wire coming from the solenoid to the MSD box?

The coil is the bit that plugs into the centre of your distributor.
