Distributor break in....

I'm getting ready to install my MSD distributor.. I know the gear has to break in but it doesn't say for how long? In other words how long do I have to granny around in it before I can "use" it?
And I just changed my oil and I use synth.. I don't have 200 miles on it since.. Does it really HAVE to have conventional during break in... ?

When I replaced mine I just stuck it in and forgot about it. Never really followed any sort of a break in pattern with it.
