Distributor/Ignition question.

I just bought a new MSD Ready-to-run Pro billet distributor. Im fairly new to this, and there are a few things i wanted to clear up. Ive been told i should get a pertronix electronic ignition. Should i still buy the ignition after having bought this distributor?

It just seems like paying $285 dollars for a distributor is fairly expensive (not sure if that is, because i dont know prices), and then paying $85 for the ignition on top of that.

No, you do not need a pertronix unit if you got the ready to run MSD distributor, "hence the name Ready-To-Run"

Pertronix is a replacement for breaker-points type ignition in your stock distributor. You really can't even put it in that MSD distributor.

I will however recommend you get an MSD 6A or 6AL ignition box and a MSD Blaster 2 ignition coil. But you can wait on those.

Skywalker, why would you reccommend that? Is the built in unit for igniton and coil not up to par? I was going to buy one of these units but a no-answer to e-mail has me wondering. What's up with these crappy companies that tell you to contact them by e-mail and then never answer them?
