Will the a later model non roller motor distributor that uses an electronic ignition instead of points work in an earlier 302 w/ points? Or is there extra wiring or anything?
I am positive that you can use that distributor in an early 302 to replace the points type distributor. I am pretty sure that there is extra wiring that goes along with it since it has a control module that goes with the distributor.
You can use a duraspark distributor with a cast gear (non-roller). for the control box, use a duraspark box or a HEI module. the HEI is easier to wire and will allow the use of a better coil (ford TFI coil). I would go the HEI route myself, but I already have a pertronix. http://www.carbdford.com/tech/HEI/hei.htm http://www.mustangsteve.com/conversion.html
