distributor wires

ok so i just got a new distributor so i was just curious if someone could help me wire the spark plug wires up, i know where the number one cylinder is on the block but i dont know where to put it on the distributor itself, how do i wire the wires on the distributor where is number one on the distibutor and how do i wire them up the old distributor was wired up wrong so i am starting from scratch...i hope that makes sence

first bring the number one cylinder to tdc compression stroke. then drop in the new dist, and line the rotor up with a terminal on the new cap. this will be your number one terminal. it doesnt matter where it is, as long as the dist is wired correctly.

The wire sequence is counter clockwise on the distributor cap.
