Hi guys--
I needs some help w/my Mustang 5.0 (331ci).
I tore down the front of my motor last night to replace my edelbrock gear drive w/ a Comp Cams Magnum Double roller timing Chain (PN#2138). I decided that i didn't want to risk the additional harmonic vibrations related to the Gear Drive since my engine is a pretty high rev. set up.
The question I have is there a bearing or anything that "sandwich's" between the Cam shaft Sprocket and the Cam Retainer plate? Or do i just simply install the timing chain set w/ no shims/spacer/bearings between those to?
What confused me is the Gear drive had a copper shim that rode on the cam Sprocket and touched the retainer.
Any help is appreciated, I put it back together w/o. But can't help but think i made a mistake.
Any Ideas?
Thanks everyone.
