Do I need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator?

Last week I posted about my hp & torque numbers being low, about 20hp too low. The shop told me that the C&L meter, 65mm TB and Edelbrock really leaned out my car. So when they dyno tuned it for my Autologic chip they also had to use the AF meter to tune it.

Would an adjustable fuel pressure regulator help me get back some lost power?

Yes, whenever a modification is made to the car, you have to consider what that mod has been and what system it affects. You've worked on the air part and remember air to fuel ratio is 14:7:1. Increase one and not the other and what happens? The car reacts or responds accordingly. In this instance, loss of power, running too lean. I doubt you'd need a larger pump or bigger injectors but I would certainly suggest an adjustable regulator to increase the flow. I'd put it at 40-41 if I were you.

I agree, I once had the same problem and went with a regulator and it solved it.

No, you do NOT need one. Thats why you got a custom chip so its tuned the right way by changing the injector pulsewidth to add/remove fuel where you need it. Not the ghetto hit or miss way of playing with the fuel pressure. If its "20hp too low" after the tune, you either have a problem, need a new tuner or you expected more than you should have

I got 202.8 hp and 253.4 torque with the mods listed in my sig which some say I should have made more power. In 7/02 the first time I dynoed and chipped it I got 226.8 hp and 297.3 torque which some said there was no way I could make that much. The mods I had at that time were MAC CAI, MAC shorty headers, MAC prochamber, 2 chamber flowmasters and 3.73 gears. You're from LI so you should know Mustang Magic who did the tuning. So do I have a problem or do I need a new tuner?

the 220/290 sounds about right for your mods and an aod with a tune. So all of a sudden your making 202hp?? Have you changed anything with the combo? was it the same dyno? A little off topic, but mustang magic sucks. They attempted to tune my car with a chip and after 2 trys, it still had major surging/stalling and bucking while cruising. I removed the chip and picked up a pro m remote optimizer and fixed it myself. I wasted $600 on mustang tragics stupid chip. How pathetic they couldnt even get a stock shortblock 302 tune right LOLOLOL!!

The combo I'm currently running is everything listed in my signature below in which I'm getting the 202.8/253.4. On the old combo with MAC CAI, MAC shorty headers, MAC Prochamber, 2 chamber Flowmasters stock AODE and 3.73 gears I got 226.8/297.3. How can I make less power with more power mods? Both tuning sessions were at Mustang Magic on the same dyno with the same guy that does all their chips. Maybe I'll try that place in NJ that does custom chips as well.
