do it yourself speedo correction

Has anyone ever corrected there speedo themselves after a gear install? 99 and newer mustangs come with a built in diagnostics tool, check it out here
http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/dtcodes.htm You can get a digital readout of how fast you are going. My question is after a gear install would that digital readout be off to? If not you could set the cruise at 55 or so pop of your speedo needle, it would probably be reading 80 or 90, and put it back on 55.

Won't work. The speed is affected incrementally and the different gear ratio changes the way it reads it. So popping the needle off won’t solve your problem. I’m not sure about the accuracy of the digital read out though, I would think that would be off too.

both would be off, because the digital and and needle are taking there reference at the same place. At that is a the exit of the transmission.

So if nobody tell the computer you have change the gear the number will be off. Unless you trick the number between the trans and the computer...like with a speedcal

Plus, are you serious about popping the speedo needle off while driving at 55MPH?
