I'm replacing my seat belts and i noticed that neither the new ones or the old ones lock into place if you pull hard on them. This doesn't seem like it would be very helpful in a crash....thoughts?
HISSIN50 said:i think there is some sort of electric sensing for them latching. as i understand, the black pin switch at the rear part of the door jamb (where the latch is) might need to work to have the belts function properly......i was told it is there for the belts....
just some info. good luck.

) and then slam on the brakes, letting your body go against the belts. They should lock up then because of the inertia switch inside the retractor. It is a manual switch, like a pendulum. The belt is not at all connected to anything electrical. I've done it a few times (voluntarily and involuntarily) and they have always worked.
