I could definitely see 4-eyes being worth more...especially 85/86 GT's

Absolutely overvalued. My junk is a rusty, 120K mile, beat-to-hell-on-the-racetrack pile of with outdated technology, terrible OEM interior, and the build quality of a LEGO set. That being said, we're attached to it, we race in a class where we do fine with it, and we overlook its shortcomings. I see some people treating B headed Cobras like they are gold when in reality they will probably be the least desirable Cobra outside of the Mustang II ever created.

I do PA state inspections so I get a lot of local Mustang guys asking me to put Mustangs on the lift and give them an inspection prior to buying, look for trouble spots, and evaluate the car for purchase. I absolutely love to get these "pride and joy" on a lift and point out a hundred areas that will need attention to justify the price they are asking for and tell them they are on crack. Especially being in the Northeast, nearly every single seam where one unibody panel meets another and is spot-welded has developed some small surface rust on them. Which means there is rust in that seam and, left untreated, will develop into a more serious issue over time. But they are asking $8000 for a HCI Fox "mint" like it's a nut-and-bolt restoration.

Ahh yes, every one out there is "mint" isn't it. I hate how loosely people throw that word around.

Resurrecting a dead thread but for good reason...My frustration is over, and I am now the new owner of an 88 GT.

I got it for 3800. It is not perfect as it shouldn't be for the price, but I feel like it is a good starting point.
It already has some decent bolt ons, I think the previous owner was setting it up for a nice H/C/I combo
It has Cobra intake, BBK 65MM TB, 70MM MAF, 24 #ers, Walbro 255 lph pump, MAC equal length
shorties, BBK-Pipe, Flowmaster 40's, and Hurst Shifter

One thing that I didn't think I would like is the red interior, but it is in such great shape I actually love it. This is really a situation where pictures don't do it justice, but I added some anyway.

Now before everyone tells me it's not an 88 because of the MAF and the steering wheel, let me squash it. It was totaled in 89 and rebuilt on a salvage title in MA with the newer parts.

Overall I am very happy, and I think i received the right amount if car for the right amount of money.

Very nice clean and straight car. Never was a fan of the porno red interior but that does look mint. Couple of things that would be first on my list are a 3g upgrade, get rid of the cone filter setup, and change the spark plug wires. Looks like a nice foundation to build on.
