Do you carry a toolbox in your Fox? If so, what's in it?

I have whatever it takes to completely dissasemble my car. It fits in a craftsman toolbox. Plus I have a small bottle jack. weighs 50 lbs total. I can fix anything I need to. My dizzy uses phillips screws to hold the TFI, so nothing special there.

Small hydraulic jack, jumper cables, crossbar lug wrench, fluorescent trouble light, hand cleaner, throwaway paper clean suit, a roll of paper towels, 1 quart of oil, multi-level funnel, and some power steering fluid. That's not counting my computer service toolkit which has all kinds of small wrenches, sockets, pliers, screwdrivers and a DVM.

Out of all that, the only thing I have used in the last two years has been the jumper cables when I left the lights on and the DVM when I was trying to chase a dying fuel pump problem.

I don't carry too much

spare TFI, tool and grease
leatherman
flashlight
TP gauge

I did score a new aluminum spare

I'll bring a few xtras if it's long trip but other than that I'll just get towed if needed.

a leatherman in the center console. Other than that I just tow it home. The things that have happened to it were not roadside repairs.
1- smog pump seized- cut belt with leatherman
2- waterpump snout went bad- cut remainder of belt with leatherman
3- Previous owner installed a cheap "HELP!" heater bypass pipe basically linking the two ends that went into the firewall. The part failed.- Leatherman to cut out the cracked parts and used to screw on the hose clamps on the remainer ends.

So in all three instances it has actually helped me out and I was able to get it home. I hope to pack a few other tools but this works for now.

This may sound like a ridiculous idea, but get a decent ratchet with a gator grip.
No you can't accurately torque with it and it's not precision, but in a pinch it works and can make up for most of a set with just one piece.

I usually don't carry anything but my AAA card, but if I make a long trip, I take everything listed below... it all fits nicely under my rear seat delete if I pack it in there the right way.

1. jumper cables
2. multi-bit screwdriver
3. flashlight
4. tire plug kit
5. breaker bar with correct socket for lug nuts
6. bag of ratchet wrenches
7. socket set
8. 4' piece of 12 ga wire
9. utility knife
10. extra bulbs and fuses
11. pliers (regular, channel locks, needle nose, leatherman)
12. adjustable wrench
13. duct tape
14. serp belt
15. TFI/tool/grease
16. plug wire
17. gallon of 50/50 coolant
18. quart of oil
19. tire gauge
20. elec. air pump

I was on vacation in Wildwood NJ (5 hours from my house) and at the end of the week and we had already checked out, when I started the car to return home, it ran for a minute then shut off. As it turned out, the fuel pump gave up the ghost.... bought a new one from a local parts store and changed it in the hotel parking lot. Only thing that really saved me (aside from all the tools) was the fact that the tank was almost empty because I had no way to drain it before I dropped it. Even with all those tools, I had to improvise a lot... but got it done and made it home without a problem... and the GF still had the nerve to whine about having to wait around while I was doing it.

When I go to the track, I'll carry my entire Craftsman 122 peice set which has it all. 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" deep and short from 4mm all the way to about 26mm. Then I grab phillips and flat screwdrivers, pliers, vice grips, cutters/knife, pry bar, extra extensions and rachets.

Roll of Duct Tape
Zip ties
A spare Magazine
Water and a first aid kit.

Usually find that if I am too far away from civilization to call AAA, I'd better sit back and hope that it works when it cools down I've had that happen with some weird case of vapor lock not too long ago... (EFI CARS AREN'T SUPPOSED TO VAPOR LOCK!)
