Do you ever get sick of your 5-speed?

Like the title says, do you ever get bored/sick with your manual trans? I know it is annoying in traffic etc. But in general, does it ever get old?

I have driven a auto my whole life, but my next car IS going to be a manual. I love it so much, I would just drive to drive when I get a chance to drive a standard; I just wanted to see the input of some of the vet. who have been driving for years.

the only time i get sick of it is if i'm in traffic or leaving an event(game or concert) besides that its a blast....you can wind it out and have fun or be chill and save gas by granny shifting.....its really fun to drive windy roads and get to downshift around the corners....it is worth it to have even if you get sick of it every once in a while...i would never want my stang to have a slush box

traffic is the only time it sucks. other than that i love mine. throw a short throw shifter in it and you are good to go!

yea traffic can be a pain at times. but other than that i love it. my family really only buys manual so if you cant drive stick your walking lol. the family SUV and RV are the only automatics everything else is stick.

It's not that bad in traffic you just get use to it and shifting becomes a force of habit and you will be laugh at next time you get into an automatic and start driving it and keep slamming your foot to the floor hitting that imaginary clutch and keep touching the shifter.
Manual tho is the best way to go. It is the ultimate control.
Def go Manual you will never regret it.

It gets old when there are other cars on the road. With all the A$$HOLES texting and talking on their cells phones and not paying attention, driving slow etc. It makes putting in the clutc hand down shifting and up shifting get realllllly old! I usually take my cars out at night, when there are little cars on the road. The other night on the way home, I only saw like 5 cars. lol

7 of the 9 cars or trucks I've owned in my life have been sticks. I love 'em. Just don't break any bones in your left leg. Then they suck.

Hell no.

Even in traffic it doesn't bother me at all.

I love the control, freedom, and reliability of a manual.

There is nothing like finding an empty stretch of road, coming to a dead stop, revving it up and dumping the clutch and holding on for dear life as you leave two streaks of burnt rubber behind you and you bang through the gears as hard/fast as you can.

It's like therapy for me.

having both my car at standards, i will never buy an automatic. all the pros definitly out weigh the only con (traffic). its just fun.

i inhereted my truck not to long ago from my grandpa.. i already bought a manual trans for it AOD is anoying,

all 5 of my rigs have been manuals

Every vehicle that I own is a Manual (see sig).

It only gets old in Atlanta traffic. Other than that, I would not trade it for any automatic car.

I would not be mad if someone gave me a Ferrari with paddle shifters though. Hell, I'd take an M3 with the dual clutch option. That is the best of both worlds.

Leave it in Auto mode for your commute, and bang gears with the paddles once traffic clears.

the only time it sucked was when i got into a fight and destroyed my hand over a guys face. thats the only time I didnt like my MGW short throw too.

Frequently.

EVERYDAY for the last 6 years i've had to put up with my manual car and have grown to despise it. guess i'm just lazy

My next car WILL be an automatic. Sure bangin' through the gears is fun every once in awhile but your daily commute at 7 in the morning with a stick shift gets old real quick.

It will depend a lot on the clutch and engine. If you have a solid hub clutch and an engine that shakes your fillings out at anything less than 1800rpm... you won't be having fun unless your at WOT.

For most street driven vehicles with reasonable pedal pressure and feel, manuals are great fun and only get old if you are stuck in stop and go traffic. You can be very lazy with a manual V8 too. It has enough torque that you can easily skip a gear or 4 gears! If I'm feeling lazy, I'll go from 1st to 3rd to 5th, or in residential streets, I'll leave it in 3rd or 4th and just let it bog a bit around the corners and run a bit fast on the streights. Even in bad traffic, you can leave it in 1st or 2nd and just idle your way up the road at 5mph just as an automatic transmission would. Just be patient and let the gap infront of you grow and shrink instead of staying on the ass of the person infront of you doing the stop and go thing.

Never. Most of the cars I have owned have been sticks. Even my truck is a stick.
That's my daily driver and my winter vehicle. My Mustang is the fun car. I just like driving a stick.

LOVE my stick in the stang (9 yrs.) and honda beater (18 yrs.) and never tire of it. No problems in traffic at all. I've been commuting for a lot of years now and have it down and routinely drink coffee steer and shift at the same time (no cell phones). Now my expy(only comes auto) that does tow and family hauling duty plus the wife's car is auto and it fits there.
