Do you have to O-ring the block if you have O-ringed heads?

I do know for sure, If u want to get technical we can. High HP drag cars o-ring the block and the heads, but for you, o-ringed heads will be fine. If you buy a set of o-ringed heads, you just need a matching head gasket and your set.

Thank you sirsureshot...Now do you know of any good brands of head gaskets that are for O-ringed heads? BTW: the heads in question are the stock E7TE heads that have been O-ringed...this is why I wasn't sure if it would be cost effective to machine the block to be O-ringed while running OEM heads...Thanks bro... :nice:

When you O-ring the heads, and you have a problem and the heads come off and need to be shaved for flatness... the o-ring reciver groove has to be machined back in the heads... More Money. and the O-ring gaskets are pretty expensive each time!! O-ring the block is a one time deal... its done!! the gaskets can be any where from stock to copper and the seal is great!! And when there is a problem, the heads can be surfaced flat and the block will still be fine and the gaskets are 40-50% cheaper... just a thought!!

But.... NO !! there is no special prep for the block to run o-ringed gaskets!! However the block should be true in any case..cool??

Just me.................................

my heads were bought that way from Trick flow. The gaskets are from summit

and your block is completely stock with the stroker or is it like a sportsman block? No machining? How are you not blowing head gaskets with so much power if your block is not O-ringed? I guess those head gaskets must be pretty tough...how much are they if you remember? Good set up... :nice:
