Ok heres my situation.

i bought my current t5 early this year. worked great and it has the D&D 2.95 gearset in it. i like the tranny.

but since i have bought it, the 4th gear has been grinding and recently my 5th gear retaining ring backed off.

i tore into it to find the problem which was the retaining ring. and went to put it back togehter and i cant get it back together. i have always had problems working with t5s. when i go to put the tailhousing on. it jams the shift rail too far foward and seems to lock up the t5 or some, everytime i have to rip the top cover off with all teh silicone i just layed down. i have done this NUMEROUS times. its a PITA and it pisses me off.

I should have taken it to a shop for fixing. since i am NOT GOOD with t5s, i just cant see to work with them, they piss me off.

as it sits.
i have the t5 with input shaft still on.

tail housing is off.
top cover is off.

do u think a shop would still take this in for a rebuild.

i dont want to deal with any mroe t5 problems. so i am willing to pay a little more and get a nice thorough rebuild and a nice t5 to drive on.

i had problems with my last t5 and i dont want to mess with them anymore.

They will take it, but be prepared to pay $500 or so for them to open it up and rebuild it.

Putting the tailhousing on is not that hard. As long as you position the shift rail fine with the pin hole straight up and down and the synchrons in nuetral, it should slide right down onto the block.
