The day before yesterday I went out to my Jeep to go to work, only to find my clutch pedal was nonexistant. It has a slave cylinder leak, and the thing is internal, which means it will continue to have a slave cylinder leak through winter. I decide not to try and mess with it and just jumped in the 'Stang. I was on my way back to work from lunch, when I felt something strange when taking off from a light. I could feel something slamming once every wheel rotation, and once I rolled down the driver's side window, I could hear very loud metal to metal contact.

At this point, I am assuming the worst. I have had rear ends go before and make similar noises, but I could only hear this from the driver's side. Once I got to work, I took a look under the car, but saw nothing. I ended up limping the car home slowly. I spent the rest of that day pissed off about the whole situation, assuming the rear end that I built not even one year ago had already died. I was looking up Torsen Diffs all day, and was beginning to get depressed at the thought of how much it was going to cost AGAIN to set the rear end up.

Today I had time to go out and look at the car, and as I got out to her, I noticed that my driver's rear tire was flat. Again. The thing had gone flat before when I picked up a screw with that tire, so I was assuming the patch that I had installed was leaking. After pulling the tire off and inspecting the suspension and brakes, I look at the tire. I notice a HUGE bolt head sticking out of the tire. I thought to myself, "This couldn't have been making all that noise..." I tapped on the bolt, and it was touching the rim on the inside! Took it up to the tire shop, and they pulled out the 5" long bolt and successfully patched my tire. Suffice to say, I feel MUCH better about the whole situation!

Sorry about the mini-novel, I just felt the need to post. :SNSign:

Holy crap man, that is crazy.

Glad it wasn't the rear, but I don't know if I'd be comfortable with a patch over something that damn big, lol.

It scratched the paint that was on the inside of the rim, and put an ever so slight scratch in it. Since it's where the tire mounts, unless you work in a tire shop, you would probably never see it. The really odd thing was, it took less weight to balance.

And to BurningRubber, the puncture hole was only maybe a half an inch in diameter. The bolt itself was about 5 inches long.
