Does a Kenne Bell Really Scream?

Everyone seems to be under the impression that the Kenne Bell superchargers make a howling sound at WOT. Anyone who ownes one, or who's been to bluegt.com knows the answer to this. Infact, the nature of a twin screw's compression is why it screams. Now I'm looking at the Kenne Bell 2.1L supercharger, and it's described on the KB website as having wisper quiet operation. Some people also mention that removing certain parts of your intake, or swapping to a bigger MAF will make it scream. So what's the real deal here? Can anyone give a strait answer on this? I know the 1.7 screams, but does the 2.1? I tried researching this, but I'm in Iraq right now, so free time and a computer is sometimes tought to come by.

Yes the 2.1 is almost as lous as the 1.7. I heard the 1.7 on a GT and the 2.1 on a 97 Cobra so IDK if that makes a difference, and if they wernt side by side I prolly wouldnt noticed any difference

The whisper quiet operation refers to idle i think. Cruising around and light acceleration, you'll get a little whistle. But yeah, when you get on it, it'll scream. Mine's probably as loud as my exhaust... maybe 2/3 the volume of my exhaust. Atleast from inside the car.

The 03/04 Cobras with KB's are louder though, I think. Then again, the Eatons can be pretty loud too.

I dont have any experience with the KB, but the Eaton does howl a bit, especially when overdriven with a different pulley. My T-Bird SC runs a 15% OD pulley and you can definitely hear it. Sounds sweet...and apparently its louder outside the car because it really catches attention when you drive by someone.

Now...if only I could combine that sound with the exhaust note on my GT....I dont think I would ever get out of the car!

Easy fix, supercharge the GT

you can barely hear mine at idle and non boost driving,At wot the sound is not deafening, not too loud, not too quiet. louder than my exhaust and it will make people turn around and look at what is coming their way. I think I love the pitch of the whine more so than how loud it is
