Does anybody make longtube headers for our cars besides BBK?

amnit: Hooker used to make longtubes for the 94/95's but it seems like they've been discontinued. Is there any other company that makes longtubes for our cars, and while we're on the topic - anyone with the BBK's have any input? I've heard mixed opinions about the quality and fitment of BBK exhaust products. Thanks for the help!

BBk and Mac make a set........also both will have people with complaint about fitment/quality. I prefer BBK due to the solid flange, but thats just my preference.

I forgot in the other post

I have seen several peeps say the fox hookers fit our cars.
You will have no egr bung with those headers btw.

I've had no probs with my Mac's for the past three years.

this is good to know, 'cause from your sig I see you've got the AFR's. I'm in the process of doing an H/C/I with AFR's and I figure while I'm in there I'm gonna put longtubes on too. I presume you went with ceramic coated LTs? Thanks Grady!

At that time, ceramic coating was not an option.

My 95 is a weekend toy only and it rarely sees the rain. The headers look about like they did when I put them on.

You will want to work a bit with your header ports as the AFR ports are fairly wide.

Can you explain what you mean? Are you talking about opening the header ports up some? I don't mean to be a nitwit

Yes thats what he meant. The headers port are not nicely finished. You might see some "metal" kinda blocking the exhaust ports on your heads. Just get a dremel or something and open up those header ports. Headers ! But be careful not going through all the way !

BTW I had BBK lt's and the fit was great.

I'm fairly certain Bassani makes long tubes for our cars also just to throw that out there. However, they probably cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $550+ based on what a pair of midlength (ceramic coated) cost a buddy on mine on his '99 GT.

I went with 1 5/8" MACs (see pics) and I'm happy with them.
I also have the AFR 185 heads. AFR uses a D port on the exhaust side which is great for flow, but its wider than the header tube. VibrantRedGT went with the 1 3/4" header tube and he had to clean up the welds too. From what I can tell, no header (BBK or MAC for instance) can truly resolve this problem becuase the tube still has to be pinched at the flange because of the header flang (which is probably why most companies us a square oval port on the exhaust). Round tube ports would be great with these heads but that's not going to happen as long as the stock bolt set up is used. If the tubes were not pinched, you wouldn't be able it insert and/or turn the header bolts. That's just my observations, some might have more insight.

do you know this for sure? because my cousin has some hookers i think.. and he isnt using them.

I guess I should have been more descriptive with my reply.

The issue is not that the header port is of poor quality.

As someone above said, the AFR port is quite wide.

Any typical street header is gonna cover the port a bit.
Its just the difference of the two openings.

I just was trying to point out the fact that .............
you can improve on the air flow with a little effort on your part.
