Hey guys, I am looking to run a set of BG turbo headers on my gt40p heads. Supposidly they work but you need to run a shorty style spark plug for cyl 3. I know accel makes one, but the only one I see on summit for a 97 explorer is platinum. I've heard using platinum on a turbo setup is a big no no. Does anyone know a part number, or who makes shorty spark plugs other than accel? Or if they make it in copper? I really dont know where else to turn, I've tried asking Bryan at BG but he must be real busy because I havent gotten a reply.

AH sorry, I found it, I dont know why summit makes this so hard to find, the specs are exactly the same as the other spark plugs they list for a 97 explorer its just copper. I found it by doing more searching on turbomustangs.com the part number is P526S just incase anyone ever searches for it but I doubt anyone will need it on this forum, though I have heard you can use other headers with these spark plugs but dont quote me on that!! they are expensive at 15 a piece.

yeah but would this work for me? can i get around this?

lol....well that's what happens when you put non "p" headers on "p" heads :P I don't think they're that much shorter......oof! $15x8 = $120 for spark plugs!?! Time to look into getting new headers!

The part number is P526S. I dont think the smaller plug will help you there, you need new headers. The ones I am going to be using are for a turbo setup, and are made by BG turbos, supposedly Bryan has tweaked the design a little to give more room for gt40p heads. I am just going to be using one of the short plugs for cyl 3. Autolite 103 for the rest. Supposedly the wire still touches the header on the BG headers with the short plug, but insulating the wire, and wrapping the header should make it alright.

The reach on those is not the explorer's .708. You looked up a 93 mustang 5.0, not the same heads as an explorer, or else we wouldnt even have these problems. If you want to run copper shorty plugs on gt40p heads you need the p526s, $15 each.
