Does the DM SpeedCal work on a Mach 1?

twogts4us:

It will work just fine. You have to phone DM and they will give you the right DIP switch settings for the 3.55's. Before you buy the SpeedCal, call DM and tell them what vehicle you have. Some +99's use the "Extended Range" SpeedCal. I know that some manual transmissions need the E/R version, some don't.

What's the new gear ratio, please?

HTH,

Chris

I originally planned for the typical 4.10s, but since I already has 3.55s, I've been thinking about 4.30s - I want to be sure I get that neck snapping wow you feel when going from stock 3.08 or 3.27 to 4.10. I have a little fear that 3.55 to 4.10 might not be as big of a change as I hope for, hence the thought about going to 4.30. (4.56 seems way over the top - I don't do much highway driving, but I do some highway driving.)

Thanks!
Chris

Thanks for the additional info. I think you will be happy with 4.30's except, perhaps, in the rain.

You're in luck: 3.55's to 4.30's is the same as 3.08's to 3.73's. The ratio is 1.211 for both. I haven't checked the table but I bet you will find the DIP switch setting you need (3.08 --> 3.73).

yeah driving in the rain always suck...and we here in the sunshine state do get our fair share during the summertime afternoon showers and storms. It's fun just trying to motivate 315 tires from a standstill without spinning...even with 3.55s. I'm sure more gear would aggravate this, but honestly I avoid driving in the rain. I do trust in my own skills and common sense, but it's the other people I am most worried about. (Most of these FL drivers are crazy, dumb, stupid, ignorant, lazy idiots...and that's when it's dry!)

Just today I had another white knuckle experience. I'm on a 4 lane divided road - As I approached an intersection with a green light, for some unknown reason my (left) lane was stopping, but the outside (right) lane was flowing fine, so when the traffic in that outside lane cleared, I hopped over into that lane. (Note this lane change was completely legal, well before the solid center line)

I quickly discovered what the holdup was. One of our FL idiots decided he needed to turn right at this intersection and decided to stop in the left hand lane and then make his right turn.

I guess he was watching the other traffic but failed to account for those of us who grew tired of waiting behind an idiot who stops in the middle of the road to turn. I hate these jackoffs! I am thankful for anti lock because you instinctively just nail the brake pedal in instances like this.
