I was just wondering if they knew of any websites that sold 3 inch cowl hoods for the 99-03 body style? if so is there really any performance gains from the induction or is it mainly just for weight reduction? im kinda clueless on this subject so any help would be appreciated.

Not even weight reduction. The stock hoods are fiberglass too. I have a 2.5 in cowl, mainly for appearance. Very insignificant cooling advantages. Good for engine clearance though if needed, and to mount outside gauges under .

These hoods used to be good for cold air induction for cars set up with a carbuerator to get outside air from the cowl. Nothing for us b/c of where our air boxes are located. Also I think there may have been some ram air effect as the air tumbles in that location and would push air in though a cowl induction. Don't quote me on that one.

I would figure if anything, there would be some reduced drag in comparison to the fake hood scoop. Got any pics? Id leally like to see it.

Cowl hoods are usually used when you need engine clearence... like if a super/turbocharger setup would be so bulky and tall that the normal hood would not close.. you get a cowl hood. It won't affect airflow to the intake because we draw it from a fender. BUT, I would think the airflow over the engine might cool down the engine bay somewhat, lowering operating tempertures a little.
