Im in need of a daily driver so i can take the stang off the road for the swap... If i picked this up my insurance would only be $300 more a year to have both on... You think its a good deal???? im going to try to talk them down to $700 he said they changed the brakes but the car is stopping slowly and he thinks the breaks need to be bled still because he didnt do it...

Thats 52k on the clock or just on an engine swap?

For such an "every day type car" thats an incredibly low amount of mileage for such an old car.

None the less, thats still a good deal from what i see. I'd imagine something much worse for $700!

i was thinkin the exact same thing about the mileage... all i could really say is check it out, check for noises and go from there... ull never know... but yeah for $700, buy it, beat it, sell it...

I ALWAYS try to buy for a little less than asking. That's a good deal, though. Even at the asking price.
It's an auto trans, they were a real problem in Aerostars and Explorers. Make sure it's ok. It's not a cheap "go to the JY and get a replacement" repair. Usually the reason they are in the JY in the first place. Xfer cases and diffs are not a problem. Just make sure the 4x4 engages properly. (Electronic hubs?) The rocker panels like to rot out, too. Tires and stuff are cheap for small 4x4's. A/C is a non-issue, as it's going to be a winter beater. You will prolly find that missing door panel, at the JY....cheap.

I'd say go for it! I bought a 1992 Jeep Cherokee last fall. Same kind of condition as the Explorer, there. Asking price: $1200 Purchase price: $900. Took a little "fixin" but, I like not having to worry if some dumba$$ is going to slide into my Stang or not.

Good luck!

another 5.0?

my mother in law has a daily driver 1992 caprice classic that has only 54k. she doesn't go anywhere, just the grocery store a mile away and she works at the playground at a local school, another 4 miles. she could literally put only 10 miles a day on it.

If the 4wd works well it is also a great winter vehicle for you...
