I have a 94 convertible with a coast high performance 347 with 10.5 to 1 compression, afr 185cc heads, x303 cam, crane cam 1.7 roller rockers, trickflow track/heat intake, 36lb injectors, 255lph fuel pump, msd distributor and coil, built AODE , 2500 stall, and 373 gears. It has a diablo chip and the car was dyno-tuned by murillo motorsports. The car made 286hp, does this sound right to you guys? Does it sound like something is wrong? Do i need to change something? Or shoud I just be happy with these numbers?

Those numbers sound way off. I'd be surprised if my stock bottom end 302 with only TFS heads, Typhoon intake, and TFS Stage 1 cam didn't make very close to that, still on 19lb injectors. I'm unfortunately not really sure what direction to point you in, in order to get the power level up where it should be. I'd think with that combo, you'd be well above 300 at the wheels, if not pushing 350 or better. Got a copy of the dyno sheet that you could post up?

Mike Murillo tuned the car and he tried to tell me that those numbers sound normal, when one of his employees had just a set of heads and was making more power. Not to mention that I spent $1,600 on getting it tuned twice by Mike.

Man, I'm sorry to hear about that. It sounds like he screwed you with your pants on, honestly. I'd be getting the car back ASAP, and hopefully getting a refund on the lack of a tune that he did on the car. If not, I'd toss the chip at him and tell the credit card to refuse payment, but that's just me.

Well this was about two years ago so its alittle too late to get a refund. I didn't know how bad i got screwed at the time. But now i'm just trying to find a way to get the power up to where it should be. Should I fork up the cash and go talk to a different shop and get them to re-dynotune it again?

I've also been thinking about going with a biggar cam, maybe around 580-590 lift.
Is that a bad idea?

You need to have your a/f ratio checked out. You may be running super rich or lean.

Have you performed a cylinder balance test to make sure all 8 are firing equally?

As a rule of thumb, you should expect at least 1 HP per CID for a NA engine.

When I got the car tuned i remember them showing me the air/fuel ratio and it looked good.

Another problem it's having is, when the motor reaches about 5000 rpm it feels like its not pulling anymore.

Maybe a MAF Problem? Sorry I don't know much about built motors like this.
What kind of MAF is it? Where did the car make peak power?
