My leak was at the yoke..pretty significant leak that had me looking for a new rack. I was coating the floor at a bottle every two weeks and pricing out racks ready to just pull the thing and move on. Well last week I decided to just try the lucas power steering stop leak...I hate stop leak products but my pump was tired as well as the rack and talking quite audibly for some time, so I figured worse case I'd have to pull the pump as well. Anyhow I drained the system quickly of old PS fluid and filled it completely with lucas. To my surprise the system is quiet, the floor is dry and I can't for the life of me find one issue with the system.
In no way am I certified to state this is ideal and will not later cause issues, but after several outting I can safely say there is no indication of fluid leaving at any rate even remotely close to what it was previously, and to boot the pump is quite and steering is as it was...reliable and smooth.
Just a tip for people who are looking at a possible cost effective solution to simular issue.
