doing harmonic balancer for first time

how do I know where to stop I have a finger gap of space from the balancer to the seal I'm just being careful I've never put one in before iam 40 but never worked on cars from the 90s

Maybe put the belt on and see how it lines up.

I'll have to put the pulleys on and see and if it's not in all the way the belt won't go on correctly right or just the pulleys won't line up

and here's it on the car not sure how far the pointer should stick over and the dorman is just a bit smaller in thickness say the stock one is half a inch wide mines one less line to the half mark

They should be exactly the same, every stock balancer I've replaced was identical, post pics of them side by side or the part number for the new one.

it's only 1 line back from the half inch mark it definitely fits I just wanna ask so I don't brake something

I doubt you can break anything. If a 1/2" impact gun can tighten the bolt sufficiently, I doubt you can apply enough torque by hand to hurt anything. You keep tightening the bolt until the balancer will not go on any further and then try and tighten it some more.

this pic is the stock balancer and the dorman is one line less when I put it on the same spot if u can see the picture I could be wrong I suck with tape measure

lol I know I'm sorry I'm not sure what angle u need to see but should they all be lined up on top of eachother

Need to see straight down the belt line, I mean it looks straight but can't tell for sure when at an angle.

I'd run it. If it's wrong your belt will rip at a cord or two.

Take a straight edge against the pullies and see if they're lined up.
