Dome light Problem???

For some reason my dome light wouldn't turn off by itself. I had to remove the light bulb so it wouldn't drain my battery.

How can this be fix?


My buddy had the same problem with his 2001 mustang gt.

OK this might sound dumb and Iam not trying belittle you... and iam sure you thought of this.. but i have to ask..

Did you check the headlight pull tab? (ya know you pull the thing out and the headlights turn on? lol) if you turn that thing that also controls the dome light along with the contrast of the gauages.

its most likely the door switch. instead of the old school button (like on a fridge) in the door jam ours is integrated into the door latch itself. try spraying some lubricant (wd-40..ect) into the latch and open and close the door to work it in. works almost every time. otherwise its a PITA to replace.

just spray it and open and shut it over and over. it should work just fine in about a minute

I had the same problem. I took out the fuse. About a month later I went to troubleshoot it and replaced the fuse. I got lucky and it worked fine. You might try that? LOL

as stated above, it's the pin switch in the door latch...it comes from Ford packed in a heavy grease and when the weather changes the grease gets hard and doesnt alow the pin to move.
