DONT FEAR THE GEAR !! 4.10s are the way to go!!

I had been back in forth reading and watching videos trying to decide what gear to go with in my daily driver. Just got mine back on the road. I have to say if you have a GT go with the 4.10 you want be disapointed. Their not as steep as you think they will be. I am running stock height tires. Ford should've used this gear from the factory!

im happy with my 3.90s. 4.10s would of been to steep for me. i end the quarter at 5500 rpms in 4th gear. NA i would def do 4.10s and FI i would go with 3.73s

I still managed 25mpg interstate driving between 60-80mph with my 4.10's. Thats with a T-45 also, which has a lower 5th gear than a T3650 so the RPM's are a little higher.

They are fun, no doubt.

truth is you will punch youself every mile watching your RPm's on the freeway.. but in actualuty your are stressing your motor less which kinda evens out your MPG.. but you will think your turning way to many RPM the whole time.. its hard to get used to..

4:10's is about 10MPH off

Yeah I don't like the idea of cruising at 75mph turning 2500 RPM. 82mph or so = 3k RPM.

However, I do like the fact that 5th gear is very usable on the highway now. Shifting down to 4th to gain speed isn't needed unless you are quickly trying to pass somebody, or you want to run it out hard.

Yea I love my 4.10s. I had 4.10s then got 3.73s and am now back into 4.10s. I cross the traps at about pretty high in OD (automatic) I still love them though.

Whats your rpms at 80mph. With my 3.73s I'm around 2,800 RPM.

Guys, don't fear the RPMs.

Both of my other cars tach higher than my Mustang with 4.10s on the highway, and they are stock. I guess I'm used to the higher rpms. The Contour is close to 4k at 80 mph in 5th gear.

Yeah for people that use the bottle or have a SC then 3.73 make more sense. For N/A then 4.10s are probably the better option (though I have 3.73s N/A and I like them)

You are doing what you should be doing for your combo. Now if you were only running NA yes I'd call you crazy. I only run 3.73's in my Mach 1 and 4v's love gears but with a P1SC on the car and me shifting at 2v type RPM's it's perfect for the track.

Gears don't kill mileage, drivers kill mileage. With 4.30's I was still averaging 22 MPG in my car in mixed conditions and saw 25MPG on the highway. However if I got on the gas alot that would drop down pretty quick.

Over 3,000, I know at 75mph I'm at 3,000 but thats about as fast as I go on the highway. I rarely ever drive over 60-65mph other than when I'm heading to the track so it doesn't bother me.

I've had both 3:73's and 4:10's in my N/A 2v and to be honest I couldn't really tell much sotp difference between the two. So if your gonna stay N/A I say def go with the 4:10's.

I've bought 4.10's and 3.73's. IMO 3.73's is it's an NA car with bolt ons. 4.10's is you're soon to see cams and/or ported heads

Im sorry I didnt get back to this sooner. I started this thread because I was so impressed with the 4.10 s. I think it is a good gear for the n/a 4.6s. Someone asked what else I have on the car. I have a Ram HDX clutch, Cold air kit, pulleys, off road X pipe, Predator tuner and an American Muscle sport shifter that I might add aint bad for the money. I believe the gears make it a much funner car to drive even with the short first gear.
