Im in the middle of building a rear with the kit of ford racing 410s and master install I bought from yates performance. It comes with the 2012 Shelby pinion bearing which apparently is cut differently that the gt pinion bearings. Anyway when I was doing an initial mock up on pinion depth the depth was way off for no apparent reason and that was using an old hogged out pinion bearing so I ended up hammering out the new race from the housing and I noticed almost immediately that it was way smaller than the old race. evidently that race and bearing are cut on more of an angle with bigger roller bearings but im hoping the geometry will still be the same, the only problem will be for mock up as I will have to press and pull the bearing off if my initial shim setup is incorrect thus increasing time and risk of damaging the bearing .
However my guess is that the geometry will be different so the practice of using the factory pinion shim as a starting point may be a good bit off. Also measuring the heads and altering the shim respectively prolly will not work either so without the ford rotunda tool for pinion depth it may be pretty hard because of the Shelby high torque bearing. I may just go back to a gt bearing and race.
