Don't understand speedcal

Ok well I have the no idea how to put this thing on my car. When I get underneath I have to locate the VSS and I think I see it, however i can't get it off and im not even sure what to do. Its so tight under there and having no lift makes it really hard. I dont even know how to route the wires to reach the VSS. Do any of you know have any write ups or easier instructions to follow? It would help alot if some of you could point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Go to dallasmustang.com and they have some instructions there that helped me out when i put my speedcal on a few weeks ago

It sounds alot harder than it is. I just put one in last week. Jack up the drivers side of your car, and you will see the VSS on the Drivers side of the tranny, just under the shifter and from there follow the directions step for step. PM me if you have questions, I could walk you through it. It doesnt take more than 1 hr to install even taking your sweet time being careful.

Their website has some real good pics. If I can fit under the car, you can also. It is pretty straight forward. One thing to watch for is that when you connect/splice the power wire to you cigarette lighter, it must be making good contact or the SpeedCal will not work.

I agree...DM has some really good pic and instructions. As a side note I hate those splices used to power the Speedcal. They never seem to hold up very long for me. I just cut the wires on the lighter and wire nutted them back togther with the Speedcal power wire.

What they said. Now, having said that, I noticed you have a chip. Can you not have this reflashed for gears on a '97?

Nope not for the 97's. I have one more question. The instructions are for a 5-spd. How do you remove the shifter to get to the bolts so you can run the wires down to the tranny? If anyone who has done this on an auto knows, let me know please. Im going to go out here and try to work on it again.

shifter does not need to be removed... is the lower boot that is under the brass looking plate. the black thing of wires go under that and you screw that down... kinda seems like a cheap job but thats how it goes in.

Need help just ask. I installed my friends cuz hes an electrical idiot. so he just stood around..asking... are you done yet?
