got a few Q's. I have the March u/d pullies minus Alt. pully.
Crank is 4 1/2 inch
water pump is 5 1/2
The March Alt. pully broke long ago(it was TINY) it was on a 100 amp(oem replacment) Now i have the SN95 Alt. with a 2 1/2 pully that came w/ it.
MY MAIN Q IS -- i want to change the Alt. pully for more juice, what would work to get more amps. And i would like the water pump to move more water would the 93Cobra pully work better than the U/D pully and what is the size(or what size would work)
Not to worried about the Crank unless i should be, cause i can change that too if needed.
 
:banana: im not sure if they fit but i know that if you use a smaller pullie it will make less jucie for the alt and same for the water pump if you go to stock tough you will lose the hp you gained from the pullies smaller
 
when i saw the post all that was there was the bannana. NO TEXT so i was confused.
I can care less about the HP loss i live in Las vegas and if you have never been here we are lookin at 115-120* this summer like always.

im pretty sure that is you use a smaller diameter pulley on the alternator it will make more juice due to the increase in rotations, a larger pulley would make less rotations thus making less power at a give rpm. im not sure that changing the pulley size will increase the actual amp output of the alternator, it will give you more usable power at idle though.

Yes a smaller pulley on the alternator will give you more ampage (sp?)...

The only place I have found a overdrive pulley (smaller diameter for more "power") is www.mustangparts.com ...asp racing makes overdrive alternator pulleys but don't have one for the 94-95 alternator even though it says it on their website...they are two different alternators... :notnice: ...and I tried to tell their Tech guy and they said they were the same...I guess they thought if they both got a 5.0 they both got the same alternator...

Go to the mustangparts website and click on Engine...and then go about 5/6's down the page and you will see the 56mm 3g overdrive pulley...$24.99...here is a pic... http://www.mustangparts.com/images/56pulley.jpg

I wouldn't use the cobra water pump pulley. It doesn't have a lip on the front of it and I have seen belts come off because of it. I would just use the stock water pump pulley with the 4" crank pulley. Also you can get an overdrive alternator pulley from Summit. You can't pull any more amperage out of ther alternator -- if it's an 85 amp alt, it will only put out 85 amps no matter how high you spin it. The only thing you will get by spinning it faster is full output at a lower engine speed. So if full output is too low for you now, a new pulley won't help.

All i need is to have the power at idle, thats all im lookin for. U/D pullies + Elec. fan + lights + tunes = NOT ENOUGH at idle.
 
Smaller drive pulley (crank) = less speed on all accessories
Smaller driven pulleys (w/p, p/s, a/c, alt) = faster speed on that accessory

The increase or decrease in speed is directly proportional to the change in pulley diameter. So, if you have a 2.5" alternator pulley, and you go to a 2" pulley, that's a 20% reduction in diameter, so the alternator will speed up by 20%. If you have data on how your alternator output varies with rpm, you can figure out what you've got now, what your idle speed is, and what diameter pulley you'll need to achieve the output you need - if it's possible. Given that you're in Vegas, you'd probably be better off just putting the stock pullies back on.
