door hinge fix

I read two pages in search but didn't find what I was looking for. I've got droopy doors, (not drawers). I could buy a rebuild kit but what if the hinges themselves are worn? IF I buy new hinges, is there a way to flute the pins and install a grease fitting to prolong their life? How can I tell if the hinge is too worn for a rebuild kit, ( try rocking the doors to see if there is looseness?)??

this is what you need. does not matter if you're hinges are worn past the point a standard bushing kit would work or not. i plan on doing this myself once i get a welder.

That's certainly a nice kit, but don't you think it's a little overkill? My bushings lasted from '68 until '02 when I rebuilt them and they weren't all that bad. Not only that, but price-wise I did mine for $6 a door and it took an hour and a half doing it by myself and that included re-aligning the door.

i put a bushing kit in mine but it's not really going to last very long because the hinges were worn really bad from the bushings being long gone and the hole for the bushing is almost twice the size it should be. luckily it's only the top bushing on each hinge that is bad so it should last long enough for me to save the money to buy the kit (and a welder), or new hinges. personally i would like to get the kit so i don't ever have to replace the bushings again, ever.

yeah i just rebuild my hinges and they look nice now but i think they are a little too far gone...the holes the pins go in are almost to the oval shape which is bad and i can basically pull the pins out if i push with my hand hard enough which also isnt good.
