Follow this link to fix your door lock actuator problems

You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – http://get.adobe.com/reader/

http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/attachments/88290/

Stuck with door lock actuators that don't work and don't want to pay the $50+ for a new one? Tried the junkyard ones and found that they last six months and freeze up?

A new actuator for less than $8. Fix one side for $20, do both sides for only $28. I don't sell parts, I don’t make any money off of the upgrade, I just tell you how to do it cheaply and easily.

By the way, I am still using the same $4 actuators I bought in 2002 and this is the second Mustang I have installed them in! Beat that with your fancy replacements!

@jrichker posted posted this response to door lock actuator issues pretty often.

The link was busted but is fixed now. Somebody give me a shout if they find the link broken again.

Just in-case, I am going to load the PDF again, to this post.

I am still looking for a previous @jrichker post/thread where he talks about rebuilding OEM actuators. If I'm remembering it correctly and I find it, I will post it here.

Correction to above. The link and file I posted [is] the writeup I was thinking about. He had moved it from his personal website to Stangnet somewhere around 2016.

is the issue trying to unlock/lock your doors with the fob and taking too long before it seems to unlock, lock, having to hold up to your chin and sometimes still take too long

Fob under the chin is using your skeletal structure as a large antenna. This can be helped with a new battery in the fob but the older keyless entry systems sucked for range.

Also realize that jrichker passed away. Just stating this in case some did not know and expected him to respond.

oh wow RIP to him.

I think before over the years I've changed the battery in the fob and might have still did that. I could be mistaken though and will try; i think i have some batteries lying around. I was actually googling some other stuff and came across some of his links and ideas just checking stuff on that 95 as I prepare to take it apart soon. Trying to check and diagnose some things on it as I did not mess with it in from 16-19 when I bought it, not that much anyway.

Does the button on the door respond quickly?
If so, it's the fob battery.

Yeah verified earlier my swapping the batteries from the other cars.

I just hate how suck it is though even on the 94 with the Good batteries as to not responding and having to hold it up to chin often smdh ‍‍

Get some electronic contact cleaner spray.

Take the fob apart, give it a good cleaning, and check to see if there is any kind of antenna lead that is broken.

If all else fails, go to the stealership for a couple of brand new one and let [them] program the silly things.
