So I picked up an '88 Vert 4-banger awhile back for a grocery-getter... and it had no sound coming from the door speaker area. I took the door panel off today to find no speaker, and a partially covered speaker hole. I don't think a speaker was ever installed there and upon inspection of the wiring, there look like there were two small wire ends that were cut off. One was blue and the other was green I think, both of them had stripes too. They stuck out of the harness that ran to the power door lock buttons and actuator. I spliced speakers into the wires and got no sound...

Anyone with Verts run into the same thing? Will I need to run my own wires?

Or have the wiring schematic for an '88 Vert?

If the car didn't come with a premium sound system it wouldn't have been equipped with door speakers. If the door speaker wiring is there it should be:

LH door: LB/W & O/LG
RH door: DG/O & W/LG

So the car only came with dash speakers? That sucks. When I spliced the head unit in, it looked like there was wiring for four speakers...? Might those wires just end under the dash somewhere?

Thanks.

Verts had sideways firing speakers on the sides in the back. You should check inside your doors to see if Ford taped up the speaker harness.

The wires are there, but it looked like they were just cut off. I hooked up a speaker to the right side door wires and got nothing. I'm just not going to hassle with it, I think. It's just a cheap 4-banger to go from point A to point B.

Also, it didn't have any rear speakers either.

Ah, I don't feel like taking stuff apart just for some cheap speakers.
