Doughnut spare in/on 66 Convertible??

I have a dilema.

Presently have a normal size spare in the trunk.

Wish to install major (yet low profile) stereo system.

Need space for subwoofers.

Anyone install a doughnut in the rear for more room? How about dimensions?

Is this even do-able? Am i nuts?

I got one to cut down on unneeded weight.

Went to the junkyard with a tape measure and started looking a spares until I found one with the rigth spacing on the lugs and a backspacing that would work.

I found one in a pile in the back of a truck, so I don't know what it came off of, but for $17 I got a brand new spare that is smaller and 10 lbs lighter than the original.
