Would it be worth it then to turn EGR off on a Handheld tuner then?

I know it will hurt your MPG's because it makes the car use more fuel because the exhaust gas takes up more room in the combustion chamber I've been told...

depends if you have emissions testing in your area or not. in CA deleting or disabling EGR is an automatic fail, and you cant register your car until you return it to stock.

i wouldnt delete it personally. maybe when i build my track car i will.

So it will get worse gas mileage? But it will probably get more power too.

nope

the EGR only works at part throttle (cruise) and shuts off at WOT. i don't see any positive reasons to do it

yes fuel mileage will suffer and a noticeable bit but it will help power. hotter engine temps will burn more effiecently with less fuel. at colder temps you may not notice a difference but after the car is warmed you will. your not dumping hot exhaust gases in the intake....hence power....cooler air.

I had to replace one on my Mazda B-4000. Ford did redesign them. The inside of the sensor get corroded due to exhaust gases(moisture) flowing thru it. I think they cost about 70.00 at the dealer. Pearl02.

Just replace the sensor they are common to go out on all types of ford vehicles. Very easy to do. You will need to clear the code after replacing.
